Challenge

Benoy’s new Shanghai Studio at LUMINA West Bund Center needed to offer a flexible, people-centric workspace that prioritised wellness, creativity and collaboration.

Solution

The new space takes inspiration from the natural world, presenting a verdant, light-filled workshop where design thinking can take place.

The studio features three thematic zones organised around the principles of creativity, collaboration and wellness. The Gallery displays past projects, awards and artworks, functioning as both a reception space and gathering space for studio-wide meetings. The Living Room forms the social hub of the studio. A large communal desk and bar-style seating create a more home-like interior, which encourages collaboration in a relaxed setting. Finally, the Workshop provides space for practical innovation with a 3D printer, library and model-making space. The studio features plants and a neutral green palette throughout, making it a calming place to focus and reconnect. 

The Shanghai studio is a hub where ideas migrate and inform one another, connecting seamlessly to Benoy studios worldwide.

Result

The office opened in August 2025.
